Dog Bites / Other Animal Attacks - Update
August 5, 2010 - A 52-year-old Concord man has pleaded not guilty to felony charges of child abuse or neglect and owning a mischievous animal causing death. The man appeared in a Martinez courtroom today to enter his plea. On July 22, three of the man's five pit bulls killed his two-year-old step-grandson. Prosecutors in the case revealed that the dogs had previously killed three family pets in the home, including two dogs and a parrot. All of the pit bulls were euthanized after mauling the young boy. The Concord man is currently out of jail after posting $120,000 bond. He is represented by a public defender and did not comment based on his attorney's advice.
