Amusement Park Accidents - Super Himalaya
July 31, 2010 - A 9-year-old girl sustained minor injuries on Tuesday when she fell from the Super Himalaya ride at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles. According to witnesses, the girl stretched her legs out under the safety bar and assumed an unsafe riding position. The ride was running in reverse at full speed at the time. In light of the accident, the ride's owner, Davis Enterprises, will reduce the speed of the ride from 13 to 12 rotations per minute. In addition, they will add netting under the bars to stop riders from lowering themselves between the bar and the car floor. According to investigators, the injured girl met the height requirement for the ride. Investigators further determined that neither the safety bar nor the ride itself malfunctioned.
